Keeping the Human/Pet Bond Healthy Since 1949

Person Holding Dogs Hands

Ferstl Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1949 by Dr. H. Thomas Ferstl’s father. We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built in our community through four generations of service to clients and their pets, and are looking forward to it for many more generations to come.

Veterinary medicine has changed a lot since 1949. It’s now possible to successfully treat health conditions that couldn’t be treated just a few decades ago. At Ferstl Veterinary Hospital, we stay current with advancements in veterinary science and integrate new ideas and technology into our practice to always give your pets the best, most modern care.

But one thing never changes at our veterinary hospital—our team’s total commitment to providing a friendly, compassionate, and welcoming environment to our clients and their pets.

We want you to feel like family.

Wellness & Preventive Care

Wellness and preventive care give your pet a solid foundation for a healthy life. Vaccinations help keep your pet from getting sick. Annual exams allow us to detect health problems early before they worsen and become more costly to treat. We offer home visits to make wellness care more comfortable, convenient, and stress-free.

Don’t forget your pet’s oral health when thinking about wellness and disease prevention. Dental health is about more than just the teeth and gums. An unhealthy mouth can lead to systemic problems, particularly with the heart. Our team can work with you to create a customized plan for your pet, from at-home routine care to dental exams and professional cleanings.

During all our interactions with your pet, our team uses fear-free techniques to create a bond of trust.

Comprehensive Care for All Your Pet’s Needs

To keep your pet feeling well throughout all life’s stages, we offer the following:

When your pet needs veterinary services beyond wellness and prevention, we’re here for you.

WE NOW WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH TRUPANION PET INSURANCE!

Trupanion is a pet insurance that allows you to get your claim paid the same day at check-out and you pay the difference instead of the traditional pet insurance where you have to pay in full and get reimbursed from the company.

What does a Trupanion policy cover?

  • New illnesses & injuries
  • Hereditary conditions
  • Breed-specific conditions
  • Diagnostic tests
  • Surgeries
  • Medications

The best time to get coverage is now!

We know it sounds cliché, but there’s no better time than the present to protect your pet for life and ensure new illnesses and injuries are covered!!!

WHY SHOULD I GET PET INSURANCE? FOR THE UNEXPECTED OF COURSE AS IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE!

 Dogs & Cats get sick

Just like human children, pet children can also get sick at a moment’s notice. Common symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea can happen often for small reasons or be signs of something more serious. Dogs and cats can also develop chronic illnesses such as allergies, diabetes, and cancer which can end up costing lots of money between the regular vet visits, surgeries, medications, and tests.

Dogs & cats get injured and have accidents

Whether your pet is mischievous, brave, or just unlucky, accidents can happen at any time including broken bones, torn nails, lacerations, or getting hit by a car, just to list a few. 4 out of 5 pets will  experience a medical emergency in their lifetime.

It’s the responsible thing to do!

We have health insurance, car insurance, and homeowners insurance to protect us financially against the unexpected, and pet insurance is no different. Veterinary care is rising in cost and for good reason, the care available to pets is often on par with human medical care. And when pets are part of the family, people go to extreme lengths to help their pets live long, happy and healthy lives.  Pet insurance enables you to afford your veterinarian’s recommended course of treatments for your beloved pet, without wiping you out financially.

Vet bills can be huge and come at unexpected times

Life is full of surprises but protecting your finances with pet insurance will ultimately help you protect your pets.

Savings account vs. pet insurance

Opening a savings account may seem like a smart idea, but they often fail to cover your pet’s medical expenses. Veterinary care is more expensive than most pet parents realize, and vet bills can add up fast. Purchasing an insurance plan is a great way to ensure you can afford the best veterinary care as soon as your pet needs it, rather than a savings account which can take years to save enough to cover even just one large vet bill.   Pet insurance is truly the gift that keeps giving – both to the pet and the pet owner! Consider insuring the pets in your life, making the best veterinary care more affordable.

“Great vet, great staff. The office is always busy, and there is a good reason for it. We have been bringing our dogs here since we moved to Millington 15 years ago”
